Completed Projects

Project budgets vary widely depending on scale and the amount of artwork involved, such as the Outdoor Plaza at the new Memphis/Shelby County Public Library, to $10,000 smaller-scale neighborhood identification projects, such as those in Glenview and Orange Mound.

The services provided by the UAC include facilitating the selection of artists for projects, overseeing the fabrication and installation of artwork, maintaining a collection of moveable artwork owned by the City of Memphis, and developing educational programs. Our educational programs include professional practice workshops for artists interested in developing public art projects. We work with school groups from elementary to college levels to expand the range of age groups who know and understand art in public spaces; and, furthermore, we hold community sessions for groups interested in enhancing their neighborhood through art and design.
